I think the MOT for teenage health was an intiative in England not in Scotland. However you can find the same sort of information on the Young Scot website http://www.youngscot.org/channels/feelinggood/
That’s perhaps something that can be improved on. Being now an older person, I know that we are invited to be checked out regularly for general health and for specific things like bowel cancer which can affect older people. I had a general health check last week- my blood pressure is normal- amazing, isn’t it- I thought it would have been through the roof, me being a councillor! Perhaps we should be looking at something similar for teenagers, to check them out for things that can affect them. Meningitis, for example. I know the family of one girl who died of that. We should also be doing more to encourage teenagers to take more exercise and keep their weight down, otherwise that just leads to problems in later life like heart disease and diabetes. One thing I applaud the Scottish government for is introducing HPV vaccination for all girls in Scotland between 12 and 14.

You are very well informed. I have to admit that I know nothing of this initiative. I’ll ask about it at the next YSEG meeting.
