Oh, Blue, you are so cruel! I retired from being a primary school teacher three years ago (a real job) and was perfectly entitled to spend my senior years relaxing, playing bowls and dangling my grandchildren on my knee. Instead, I was persuaded to stand for the council and I won! If I lose in the next council in two year’s time I’ll be too old for a real job. Anyway, you wouldn’t want old foggies like me to have jobs if it meant young guys like you had to stay on the dole. But I’ll continue to help the community in whatever way I can for as long as i can.

Blue, you are a very cynical person. If I don’t get reelected next year I most certainly will continue to be active in the community. And I would dispute that being an MSP is not a real job or that being a councillor is not a real job.
