I was at Calside Primary School in Dumfries for quite a long time, from 1983 to 2007, when I retired in March and then stood for the council in May, and was elected. Before calside I was Head Teacher of Terregles Primary School, west of Dumfries, and before that at Kirkbean Primary School. I also spent a year abroad in Germany as a secondary school teacher, teaching English to Germans. That was in the 70s.
