Question: Do you agree that cutting the number of policemen/staff would mean an increase in crime in our area. After all if there are less police on the beat or in the community then surely people will become aware of this and this will encourage the crimnals to do what they want?

There’s more police now than ever. The Scottish government promised 1000 extra police officers, and we got there. But now, sadly, the country is hard up and we’re bound to lose some police officers again. Crime is very low in Dumfries and Galloway and to keep it that way we’ll have to make sure that the police who are left will have to get out and about as much as possible, and be seen on the streets.
