I would love to see a wider range of clothes and accessories shops in Dumfries town centre.

Unfortunately, there is little the Council can do to provide more variety. It is up to individual businesses to decide what they stock and whether it is a sustainable option opening a shop in the high street. I, personally, love shopping and would welcome any new addition to the town centre.

Yes, I agree that’s what we need. The SNP Scottish government cut the business rate for small businesses to encourage them to be set up, but unfortunately we are going through a very bad financial time when people are nervous about starting up in business. To be honest, I wouldn’t expect many new small shops to open at the moment, but hopefully things will improve in (say) a couple of years.
