The first weekend of the Festival is over as I write and it has been a big success. I think the town has been busier than ever, the accommodation providers have been full and the events have been wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed Peter Hain and Ian Rankin on the opening night. Margo MacDonald was superb on Saturday and the market was busy all day. Wigtown Book Festival’s Still Got Talent was fantastic and Gervace Phinn tonight was very funny. I will be burning the midnight oil to try to get ready for the week ahead but it has been worth it. A lot of tickets have already been sold for the events next weekend and it looks as if attendance will be up on last year.
